PS3 internet connection..?

I am trying to connect my PS3 to the internet. I just got a wire today that goes from my laptop (for connection) to my PS3. when i test the connection, i obtain the IP address but not the internet connection. I'm using the internet on my lap top though. Can someone help me please

you need to connect your ps3 to your router using an Ethernet cable or you could use the wireless setting. go to your ps3 and under settings scroll all the way down to network settings and then pick the third option and you can set up your internet there. if you have wireless internet you can scan for a connection too.
