My laptop will not let me connect to the internet wirelessly?

I've had this laptop forever and I always connected to the internet wirelessly through wifi but now it's saying that I need an ethernet cable to get on the internet.

It works with the ethernet cable but as soon as I unplug it it no longer works.

When I try to set up a new connection the only option is for broadband (PPPoE).

Can someone please help me!

There are 2 other laptops in my house and they are both working perfectly fine wirelessly.

can you see the network?
has the password been changed?
have you turned off the wifi card? (switch on side of laptop)
has the laptop updated recently?
is the wifi card visible in device manager?
