My Brothers Computer Virus?
So my brothers laptop is pretty messed up he cant even do a system restore or else some virus protection thing comes up telling him his computers messed up or something, every time he clicks on google chrome it only lets him go to internet explorer and he can't do anything. He just wants to do a system restore but some help would be great.

Restore does NOT remove infections. It may leave many dormant files hidden on the drive just waiting to reactivate. Use a proper tool. Start in safe mode with networking. Download the free scanner from http://malwarebytes.org. Run the full scan.

Google chrome problem is another thing its not relate with virus. You can do one thing go to your uninstall and uninstall chrome first from your pc. Then Install a new chrome from google chrome and make default browser and don't import anything. Then you will be able to use chrome.

And the other part for virus you can install Kaspersky antivirus trial for 30 days and it will clean all virus thing from computers. You can get it from http://www.kaspersky.com.

Yah, you are pretty much hosed. A professional (like myself) could probably clean it, but if there is a 'rootkit', you are not likely to fix it on the target machine.

If you have another computer, it is possible to get a usb - hdd adapter for about $20.00. If so, the best thing to do is copy the files you need to another drive, then format/reinstall.

Make sure the 'host' machine has good and up-to-date antivirus, lest the infection spread.

Good luck!

Don't do a system restore

Disconnects all Internet and then back up files on a USB. P

Then RE INSTALL WINDOWS. PUT the disk and re install windows.

use another comp and follow this
http://support.kaspersky.com/8093
than malwarebytes on full scan use free not trial
https://www.malwarebytes.org/free/
reboot than run mbam and scan again on quick scan , reboot . this should get the pc back to normal
there are 2 other things you can run that are free
http://www.bleepingcomputer.com/download/adwcleaner/
http://www.bleepingcomputer.com/download...oval-tool/

than and don't stop it you might crash the pc ( it is a junkware tool and runs on linux )
