My fiber optic broadband is installed downstairs and my computer devices are upstairs?
Hello.

An engineer has just come to install fiber optic broadband for my house. When he left, we noticed that nothing is working. The TV, computers, tablets and the phone line. He installed it downstairs and its only connected to my TalkTalk router and the mains electricity switch, and also the main socket.

My computers are upstairs and wifi isn't working. What do I do? I don't want to have wires all over my house and the engineer has already left. I can't ask f anything else. He was a bad engineer that never told us what to do and checked if it worked.

Please help. I can't live without the Internet I need it for my homework.

Get him back. He should have made sure everything worked prior to leaving.

Does it work if you are downstairs? If not, then get the engineer back out. Surely he should have tested it before leaving? If it does work downstairs, then you need a wifi booster plug for upstairs.

Quite apart from the obvious "get the engineer back" .....

You need to visit the talk talk website support section. You will need to connect a network cable between your computer and a router, and then you will have to point your browser at the router's web interface. Usually that is something like 192.168.1.1
but it will give all this information on the talk talk website. Once you have access to the router's settings, you will then be able to switch on the wifi.

But you still need to get that engineer back for the telephone!!
