What's the best free web-based email service, since yahoo mail has been messed up almost as bad as answers?

Yup, I'm ready to bail out and abandon the ship of yahoo which has served me well for many years.
I already have a gmail account, which I never use because it sucks.

My needs are simple. Just a free web-based free email system I can access from anywhere via computer or smartypants phone. Something elegantly simple, with an address book.

thanks!

Gmail is best. They offer basic HTML version: https://mail.google.com/mail/?ui=html&zy=h

Yes, I absolutely agree with your opinions. Sorry but I don't have a definite and direct answer I have here some links that will give you some ideas on choosing your new email service provider.

Just try to make some research here:

I have multiple email accounts for different purposes: Yahoo, Hotmail, and Gmail.

Yahoo is my 'trash' account. I use it for 'trials', test accounts, and people i dont' talk to that often.
Gmail I use strictly for my YT'ing.
Hotmail I use for my personal account.

All 3 are rather simple to use, offer calendar syncing (with mobile, FB etc), and mobile-contact syncing and have access-anywhere or apps to accomplish that. Just pick whatever floats your boat.

i like yahoo's interface, but is useless how they have mangled its functionality.

gmail is probably the best overall email service.

hotmail isnt too bad.

Why not install thunderbird or outlook (or other email client) and use imap with all 3 emails. (imap keeps emails and folders synced with the webmail, so it doesnt change whether you access it through webmail or outlook).
