Registering Wildcard Domain Names?
I don't know if this is something that is common but I was wondering if this is a normal request of places like GoDaddy.

Lets say I have a domain called ABCBuilding.com and I plan to later create ABCBuildingProducts.com, ABCBuildingPlumbers.com, ABCBuildingwoodworkers.com etc etc etc

Is there a way I can register ABCBuilding*.com so that I "own" any domain that starts with ABCBuilding?

Assuming of course no one else owns an ABCBuilding something domain already.

Please let me know if this doesn't make sense and I will try and explain more?

Tried GoDaddy's support line but the queue is hours long.

No you cannot get wild card domain names without registering each one individually.

In saying this would it not be better to register the domain abcbuilding.com as an example and create sub domains such as products.abcbuilding.com etc..

This means you only have to purchase one domain.

If you are interested in registering a domain and getting sub domains setup I am more than happy to help. We are offering 20% off domain names for a limited time, if interested or if you have any questions please contact us: contact@smartienet.com.au or visit our website http://www.smartienet.com.au

No. For your example, you could get your primary regstration for abcbuilding.com. This allows your web server to host *.abcbuilding.com.

For certificates you would need a wilcard or SAN certificate for *.abcbuilding.com.

There is no way to request abcbuilding*.com except by indivudually registering all domains one by one.
