what do you mean "everywhere". Your laptop is not a celphone... you won't get service everywhere.

The only way you're going to get internet connection everywhere is to invest in a broadband card and service from, say, Cingular, Verizon, or Sprint. The card can cost between $50-$100, with a monthly service fee, $40-$50 for the basic hook-up.

I had a bad experience with Sprint, so don't say I recommended them to you.

By the way, any laptop you buy today should have a built-in wireless card, but the one's I'm talking about above are external.

Some of the newer models are coming out with built-in broadband service features as well, so that all you will need is a carrier service contract.

well wireless with hotspots... otherwise some cellphones can be used as modems.. but you'll need a data plan!

I have a blackberry with T-mobile data plan ($19.99)and use it as a tethered modem.. got a speed faster than dial-up but it's not dsl

The big three cell phone companies in the U.S. all offer a data service with a card that plugs into your laptop. In theory, anywhere were you get a cell phone signal, you should get an internet signal also.

There are several things you need to be aware of though. First of all, service is very expensive -- over $60 a month PLUS the cost of having a voice line through the same company. In addition, service is somewhat slow (but still faster than dialup). Finally, data is more finicky than voice, so even if you are getting a cell phone signal, you might not be able to get a stable internet connection.
