This probably seems obvious but the first step is to create a website with a nice landing page that highlights the book. The landing page should have a large call to action button such as "Buy Now".

Once you have that you can do some keyword research to see what relevant organic terms people use and change your page title, headings, and content to reflect those terms. You can get some quick and easy organic SEO ideas by using the Bing Webmaster Tools. In the Bing Webmaster Tools go to "Diagnostics & Tools" and choose "SEO Analyzer".

After you've taken care of the low hanging organic SEO fruit you can start some paid campaigns through Google AdWords and the Bing Advertising Network. There are more people and a bigger audience with Google's network but Bing has less competition and consequently you can spend a lot less to still have successful ads.

You can also look for other web sites that are relevant to your book. See if you can write a guest blog for the site and in the article mention and link to your book site.

You should also start a facebook fan page for your book and a twitter account. Use a program such as http://hootsuite.com to automate posts to your social network. Make sure you are paying attention to any posts from users you receive on your social media streams and make sure you respond.
