is AVG required for computers? Error Vprot.exe displaying and I can't do anything, help!?
Is AVG required for a pc to properly function? My grandma's computer has AVG 201 but she uninstalled the "AVG security toolbar" and now its showing her messages like "information at 0x00000000" and #memory can jot be written." It also shows the vprot.exe error, but I am not able to click on google chrome or much else than that. Help me, please. I'm afraid it broken! I've been looking this up, but I couldn't find the exact situation like mine (apparently everyone had a fine time uninstalling the toolbar.) Also, I've been getting a lot of mixes information on what to do. There is an option to "terminate program" but I'm terrified to click it, in case the computer just dies. I have no idea what to do, please, please help!

AVG is an antivirus/security product and is not required. Uninstalling certain parts of the product may or may not have an affect on computer performance. Uninstall the product completely and reinstall or perform a Windows System Restore back to an earlier date.

Sometimes uninstall executions don't go as expected which end up with screwy registration entries that try to run programs that no longer exist.
AVG has a removal tool that can do a thorough job. http://www.avg.com/ww-en/utilities |
