pitbull rescues in bakersfield california?
I'm moving to Bakersfield CA in a couple weeks with my boyfriend and were looking to adopt a pit bull. We'd like to rescue instead of going through a breeder. Are there any bully rescues that anyone knows of?

You can easily do an internet search for "pit bull rescues in Bakersfield, CA."

Another way to see what's available through rescues is to see if Face Book has any pit bull rescues on it. Then just "Like" the ones nearby and they will send photos to your Face Book account.

You will probably also find a good selection of pit bulls in your local shelter.

I am more north of your soon to be location but most shelters are filled with pits and pit mixes as well. Petfinder.com is a great place to start as there are many in need of good homes, many shelters and rescue groups use that website. A quick google search yielded many results

I don't know of any rescues in CA, but they aren't difficult to find with a quick google search. Just wanted to chime in my two cents and say what a great idea it is and how awesome you guys are for adopting from a rescue. I've just adopted a pit mix from a rescue as well - the adoption process can be somewhat long (i.e. home visits, calling references, etc.) but it's so worth it. And generally with rescues, the dogs are in foster homes so they can tell you about the dogs personality, temperament, likes, and if they do or don't get along with other dogs, cats or kids. Also, MUCH less expensive. AND you're saving a life. The best route to take all the way around. Good luck to you in the future!
