help needed with internet connection to laptop via home computor, pleeeaasse!?
I have installed a wireless router to my normal home pc that has an internet connection via ntl (im using this computor now)
I have now installed the adapter to my laptop with use of the cd. It says excellent connection to the internet, however when I open a page say yahoo, it states page cannot display! there are no other options in the set up manual? the adapter is lighting up and it says we have the net but the pages just wont diplay? please advise! much appreciated.

it sounds like you need to configure the router to the laptop , the manual that came with the router shows you how to do this.

Ok, why would you buy a router when you already have one connected to your PC, do you mean a wireless access point? If you have a router it will not work PERIOD. I am making the assuption that your PC is hardwired to the net. So you dont need a router, you need a wireless access point then you plug it in to your pc and install the driver, then you right click on your ntl connection and go properties and choose internet connection sharing. Make sure that the wireless card has DHCP enabled. The access point should come with a wizard so you shouldnt have any problems their although you are female..... so anything is possible. Email me if you have any further questions. Never listen to those twats at PC World.

Have you tried setting Never dial a connection under the Connections tab in Internet Options? You can find Internet Options in Control Panel or in the Tools section of Internet Explorer. You might also need to run the Internet Connections wizard and tell it your computer connects via a LAN and the LAN adaptor is your wireless adaptor.

Otherwise call in a professional who charges by the half hour and does not charge for call outs. Your problem would be fixed in less than half an hour.
