Nope. You are limited to the bandwidth of the campus. if the campus network is slow then there is nothing in your power to be able to do about it. Your school might even be throttling their network traffic to reduce the load on their network.

I don't know what your connection speed is...

and what are you using as a gauge to tell you your speed is too slow? I doubt it is.. you are most likely connected to the campus wireless at a fast speed, but are only getting a limited amount of INTERNET bandwidth... which has NOTHING to do with how fast you are conected to the closest router.

You can attempt to purchase a better wireless adapter.. like the Hawkins USB model with the removable antenna, and then connect a 7db or 9db external antenna to it to increase the strength of the signal reception... but if you are currently connected to your campus wireless at 54mb.. then you are at MAX speed for a standard wireless G connection.

I'm betting you are allowed a 1.5mb internet connection for internet, at most. You don't need anything faster than that anyhow, unless you are trying to download music and movies illegally, which they don't want you to be doing.

So first, find out exactly how fast you are connected to the campus wireless, before you go trying to improve it. Improving the speed at which you are connected to the campus wireless isn't going to speed up your downloading.

A good way to increase your internet speed is to use an Internet Optimizer like Internet Cyclone. This can improve internet speed by optimizing some registry settings.

You can download it from http://www.jordysoft.com/icyclone/internet-cyclone.aspx
