is my internet connection the way its suppose to be?

I dont know if this suppose to happen but when ever the phone line is being used the dsl is down and i cant use the internet connection at all is that suppose to happen or is something wrong with the internet connection?

Yes, something is wrong with the internet connection.

DSL uses high frequency bands, but a normal phone uses low frequency bands so they should be able to be run together on the same line, at the same time.
