I need help regarding a facebook friend request?

Alright so I just started a facebook account and I'm having issues. See I friended someone on facebook that I go back a long way with. And recently someone who is friends with my friend saw that friended my friend on facebook. So he sends me a request. The issue here is this, this guy that sent me the request has a brother that was a jackass to me back in the day and I blocked him when I first got on. Now I don't know how close these two are but I feel like I should block his brother too, b/c I just don't want to open up those lines of connections ya know. So what should I do?
