HI,

There are a fast way and a slow way to generate traffic to your site.

The fast way would be using Paid Advertising to genereate your first batch of traffic and hopefully, they will remember your site and come back again or share with their peers. You can spend about $5/day on Google Adwords or Facebook Ads to generate a good amount of traffic. Another cheaper Paid Advertising is StumbleUpon Discovery. Paid Per Click Ads will generate qucik traffic.

The slow way will be do SEO. SEO is an on-going process. You should conduct keyword research on what people are searching for related to your website's theme and optimize the main on-page SEO such as Title Tag, URL, Anchor Text, H1 Header, Image Alt Text and etc. Furthermore, write a descriptive meta description to attract people to click on your site on the search result page.

Once you optimized your on page seo, continue to conduct keyword research and write "INFORMATIVE" contents and optimize it as well. By producing informative optimzied contents, it will help you slowly generate traffic via search.

If I may add, money making as well as weight loss are some of the most over promoted subjects, getting free traffic from search engines can be a real challenge due to the sheer volume of other better established sites. It may well be a mistake to tackle such a saturated field head on, better to go after some specialized niche where you have a chance to be more of a big fish in a small pond where search ranking is easier to get and paid ad prices can be lower. Your certainly not alone, probably 1/2 pf the people who try to make money on the internet start by trying to promote a program they subscribed to.

The link getting part of a typical search engine optimization campaign using blog comments and forum posts on sites where your prospects would hang out can also get you direct traffic through those links even if your are in the dark unseen page 9 the search results.

This SEO authority has a tutorial series on SEO, their blog discusses many advanced SEO topics that might only be relevant to massive enterprise sites, their Whiteboard Fridays videos are informative.

Unless you have a proven optimized sales page, using paid advertising could easily be money loser, there are countless ad systems, Google adwords and Facebook paid ads are most often recommended to rookies, they both have first time user vouchers available to pay for initial experimentation. We aware that Google will ban ad advertiser for promoting cvertsion sketchy products, a few years ago they had a great purge of advertisers large and small who were promoting products like Acai berry with unauthorized credit card-bills ("Forced Continuity") some of these advertisers spending tens of thousands week were banned for life.
CPV advertising is a cheap way to popup an ad window on any site you choose but they only reach a subset signed up to a certain tool bar or game platform. They have a $100 to $1000 min deposit. Some of the shady CPA offer ads promoted this way may be almost invisible on the search engines.
