Will a single player game of Diablo III be effected by interruptions to the internet connection?

I have a good internet connection, but occasionally it will drop for a few seconds to a couple minutes, as it's wifi. It internet connection required just to verify that you are a registered owner, or is it an integral part of the gameplay for single player?

so if it drops, you will be disconnected from the game
