Oh come on we need more details than that, for instance which version are you using, I think most versions have a help menu click that then on my version (v26) it has Reset Firefox in a square box click that, You may be prompted y/n I'm not going to try because I don't want to lose my custom settings but you will need to answer yes or no. This fixes most problems, I would further advise you to download and install http://sourceforge.net/projects/mozbackup/ then when you get firefox to behave run Mozbackup and backup your Firefox settings, I recommend you tick all boxes History, Bookmarks etc. so next time you have a problem you can reset it to this working model.
Ps. another reason we need more details is you may have a anti virus program that has a firewall blocking your Firefox Browser I don't have enough details to know if you have or not
