Icons not changing properly in windows 8?
So, I'm trying to change the icons on some of my programs. But an error continues to happen.

Lets say I'm changing google chrome's logo:

Right click>Properties>Change Icon

When the new icon in applied. This is what the programs icon becomes

The file I'm using is an .ICO file.
I have Windows 8

If this is just about Chrome, the easiest way to solve the problem is to first delete the shortcut. Then navigate to c:\program files\google\chrome\application (program files (x86) if using 64 bit Windows) and right click on chrome.exe and select make shortcut. Windows will bark that is can't create the shortcut there and ask if you want to put it on the desktop. Just answer in the affirmative.

Edit: Addendum: If you want to change the icon from the one you have created on the desktop, just right and get properties and hit the Change Icon button. You will have several choices from there.
