Tried to turn off this "spam commercial" from yahoo but their preferences don't turn it off.
My other problem is the stupid pop up from H & R block that pops up in the middle of a lot of my mail..........stupid yahoo.

The ad at the top of your inbox with the $ sign ??

Those are Yahoo "sponsored" spam advertisements, and "so far" no one has figured out how to get rid of them.
(Adblock doesn't stop the "sponsored" ads.)

Yahoo has made them "un-deletable", because they get paid every time it's clicked on---(hence the $ symbol).
You will just have to learn to ignore them.

This is what Yahoo has to say about it--------"Free Yahoo! Mail is made available in part by the advertising you view while using our site".

John, For what it's worth, I am running Firefox and have installed AdBlock+ and I never see an ad. Also Yahoo does offer Ad Free Mail for $50/year.

Sorry, this ad cannot be turned off or deleted. Ads allow Yahoo to continue to provide users with free email and other services. You may wish to consider subscribing to Yahoo Ad Free Mail. This service costs $49.99 per year. To read more about Yahoo Ad Free Mail please see this Yahoo Help page:

Overview of Yahoo Ad Free Mail -- http://help.yahoo.com/kb/index?page=cont...d=SLN15803

Some users have recommended downloading Thunderbird, an email program from Mozilla that allows you to access Yahoo Mail without ads.

Access Yahoo Mail using Mozilla Thunderbird -- http://help.yahoo.com/kb/index?page=cont...id=SLN3217

You will need to enable the pop-up blocker feature in your web browser to prevent annoying pop up ads.

Just install Adblock Plus for your browser (whether it's Firefox or Google Chrome). I recommend using Firefox.

1) Adblock Plus: https://addons.mozilla.org/en-us/firefox...lock-plus/
2) Yahoo Mail Hide Ad Panel: https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox...deadpanel/

These will convert your Yahoo mail equivalent to the pad version!
