How can I see the other person while on skype?

When I actually click on the skype tab/app I can see the person I am talking to , but when I click to do other things for example go on facebook , etc. I can't see the person , I recently got a new laptop with the updated skype , So its changed a lot But on the older on I could see other person on my screen.

you have to click on the camera symbol to do video calls (or initiate the call as a video call)
