Right click on the program which you want to make shortcut to..and click create shortcut. A shortcut will be created there and now you can copy that shortcut to multiple places.

you click and hold with your mouse and drag it to the desktop.

Hmm, never tried it with chrome but if I was trying to make a shortcut with internet explorer you just add it to favorites or bookmark it and then reduce the window into a smaller window so you can see the bookmarks and the desktop - then drag it out to the desktop.

Bookmark the address of your home folder. Like file:///C:/Users/smokey4u/ Go to any folder copy it's address and paste in omnibar. It will look like as in the attached image. You can open supported audio, video and image files within chrome.

If you want to make website shortcuts on Google Chrome,
> Click the Chrome menu on the browser toolbar.
> Select Tools>>Create application shortcuts.
> In the dialog that appears, choose where you'd like the shortcuts to be placed on your computer.
> Click Create.

You are done!

You should follow these steps....
1. Open the location containing the item that you want to create a shortcut to.
2. Right-click the item, and then click Create shortcut. The new shortcut appears in the same location as the original item.
3. Drag the new shortcut to the desired location.

You can also create a shortcut to a website by dragging the icon on the left side of the address bar in your web browser to a location, such as the desktop.
