Galaxy Tab 3 is a tablet, it uses the LCD screen just like the monitors and Tv screen. Then there are various other tasks that you can use this device for. I.e playing games, watching movies/ tv shows, internet surfing, facebook/twitter and other SNS, video calling, taking pics, making videos, taking notes, reading books, blogs, magazines, checking emails etc.

The eReaders use eInk screen and they are for the sole purpose of reading and wont give you these many features like the Galaxy Tab 3 gives, you do get very few features like you can check internet for meanings, check emails or share quotes online on Facebook or twitter, but the eReader cant do much work other than this. You'll need a tablet for entertainment purpose.
