Help me clean up my computer running slow? ):?

Its not the internet connection.

Ive definetly been on websites I shouldnt have been.

I downloaded the free version of avast and have run a full system scan a few times, this helps a little bit ...

But every time I click on an open tab a new web page pops up with an advertisement. Also in the bottom left hand corner avast pops up and says it blocked a harmful website when i'm just on a normal website like yahoo and a webpage of ads will pop up of its own accord. Also most of my webpages are ridden with pop up ads. When I go to video lectures there is major lag between the sound and video. This is incredibly frustrating. Please help.

clean RAM Cache . by deleting temporary files.
go to Run and type %temp% and delete all.
