Facebook chat friend question?

Hey, well Im not friends with this one person on facebook but I messaged the person within the last 2 weeks, and they are on my chat list..... I talked to about 20 people ALOT within that time period. and every once in a while , her little face and name pop up in my chat list. and I was bored and looked at my "Initial chat friends list" and she was the 3rd person... Why is this? I rarely talk to the person and we arent even friends.. I looked up what it means if they are on the "Chat list' and they said that she probably was looking at my page alot. But I dont believe that is true.. What is the cause of this?
Niether of us are blocked to eachother. We both have the ability to talk to eachother and send Friend request... So "shashi" that isnt the answer
