UCR or CSULB for Business Admin?
Hi everyone I'm planning to attend either CSULB or UCR for an undergraduate business program with concentration in management, and I'm still undecided on which college to attend even after talking with my family, counselor, and teachers. I'm here in hope of finding some more insight as to which college is better in terms of their business program, over satisfaction, and future job prospect in the business field. Basically my entire family is against going to UCR including my brother who is currently attending UCI so he knows more about this process. I also have CSUF and community college (OCC/GWC) as choices too but I have never really paid much attention to these colleges. I'll list some of my pros and cons for everyone along with some facts that I have found from research.

My Stats if needed: Graduating HS with likely a ~3.95 GPA, 1820 SAT, 7 AP Credits

CSULB
Pros: Cheaper Cost, No burden of loans, Nice campus & weather, Good business program, Offers archery, Better campus atmosphere I believe
Cons: Commuting, Loosing the dorm experience, Living with parents (Not fond of my Dad), Trouble getting classes

UCR
Pros: Nice financial aid for a UC (~5k/Year), Graduating with UC title, Higher Chance of transfer if needed, Dorm experience, Also good business program,
Cons: Heat, Loans Required, No archery, Lack of things to do around/outside of campus

If you can go to college debt free, then you should do so. There are also a ton of internships in LA (not too many in Riverside), not to mention fun things to do. You will be studying most of the time, but if you have a study schedule then you should have some free time at least one day out of the week. If you are an honors student, which you probably are because of your GPA, then that will look good on your resume.

May I suggest that you also join a club or two for all four years that you go. I did not join a club until my junior year and it was a huge mistake. In academic clubs, speakers will come in and talk about their jobs and it will give you a much better idea of where you want to work and what you specifically want to do. They hold large networking conferences so you can meet future employers and people may offer you jobs and internships. In the club that I was in, they had someone who specifically hunted down internship openings so you did not have to do it yourself. They also hold fun events for the students so you can bond with people at your school and hopefully make some friends.
Here is a list of academic business clubs. They almost always have a facebook and twitter so find their accounts and like all of them.

here is your departments twitter account. it looks like they haven't posted anything in a while, but you should still follow them.

And always like your school's main facebook page to find out about fun things to do at your school and ways to get involved. And always like their career center page, you really want to take advantage of the seminars and services at the career center.

Try to get an internship for next summer, take whatever you can get for your first internship. Don't be picky.

Here is a past answer that I gave about CSULB, if you want more info.

If you are going to be over 20,000 in debt from UCR, then you should not go there. Really, there is no need to go to UCR if you do not have to pay a tuition or rent for CSULB.

You should go to CSULB and get those internships. Your school's career center website will have a list of internships, but you can find some online too. I know all of the internships that Huntington Beach (the city) offers are all paid internships. Here are some for the city.

Here is another intern search site.

Here is the school's site

FYI, internships can count as academic credit. So instead of taking a class, you can just have an internship and get real experience.
