Is this considered slandering/defaming and enough to build a case?
A girl that I used to be friends with was going around telling people that I'm being charged with domestic violence which is not true. She also told them I'm having a misbehaved dog who bit me badly and I had to go to the hospital. He did bite me BUT this happened by accident while I was playing with him. I never went to the hospital though. And she is saying that everyone who allows their dog near "hers" is putting him in a bad position. That whole thing is hurting my business because I just started a pet sitting business and now I'm losing customers because of her false stories. She put this lie out in public by commenting on a status on a group page (Facebook). Now here's the actual problem: she did not mention my name but everyone with some common sense knows that she's clearly referring to me. Yet I know for a fact that she did mention my name when she was talking to some people in private, they just won't help me out because they believe in her words.

Would that be enough proof to build a case and take her to court? I tried to talk to her and wanted to give her the chance to clarify everything but all I got from her was that she never did anything wrong or illegal and that she has never mentioned my name or lied about anything. Which is obviously another lie lol well after this she blocked me and wouldn't even give me the chance to respond.

I hope you guys can help. Thanks in advance!

Talk to an attorney. Take your 'evidence' and see what they say. Hope you have some money saved up because suing someone is not cheap.

You have to be able to prove loss of income and how much income you lost. Are you able to do that?
