Starting off as a writer...?
Hello...
I love writing mainly creative writing mainly into stories and poems.and also essays and compositions.
And i have now joined in college.and i would like to work as a writer.but i have no idea how to start.
I am having little facility to use internet in my hostel or college i.e authority doesn't allow us to use it for other than study purposes. But I will be able to use PC once in a week going to my house.
So under such conditions, how can I earn from writing? How to start with?

Cool! Welcome to the family, dude ( or gal?)! Haha.
Anyway, if you want to start writing or BE A WRITER, you have to set in your mind that YOU ARE A WRITER because writing is not an easy job though most of the time you'll get that feeling of fulfillment for yourself. You've got to have commitment. When you've finally think you're ready for it, try finding friends with the same interest. This is optional though(for me that is).
Do researches. Since you like creative writing you should try researching "Feature Writing". Don't only depend on the internet. Read books, newspapers, magazines, even your college newspaper has that section(oh and by the way, did I already mention I'm also in my college newspaper? I write both news and feature articles and learning to write sports). Next, try to find what your forte is. Meaning, you've got to try different creative/feature writing so that you'll know where you can practice your talent more. Maybe you're poetic and writes poem better than feature articles or maybe vice versa. As for me, I do both with news and feature though I'm more confident with feature.
Next, you've got to know the simple rules in writing stuffs in your chosen field. This would really help to write effect literature. Though I'm sure since you're gonna work in your college there'll be people to help you out concerning this.
As for earning for it well, you can try asking people around you if they know some part time job you can apply to. Or maybe see if your college can give scholarship through writing for the college paper. You know, college people are diverse. People here know more and has many connections so try to make connections, too.

The rest is up to you now. Have fun!
