How do I fix my bad internet connection?

So a few months ago this problem started. I was playing Team Fortress 2, and suddenly I got huge FPS drops and other types of lag. After a lot of research I figured out it was my internet connection, and not my PC or my Mac that caused this. To confirm that my internet connection isn't good, I went ahead and did a speed test, this came out:

"You might have a problem...
Your connection scored only 29% of the Ziggo (My provider) average (71% slower). This does not always mean that you're in bad shape. If the Internet package you subscribe to is slower than most people using your ISP you will get this message."

How do I fix this? It's not only gaming that got ruined thanks to my bad connection. Studying, working and other things have been a burden too.

FPS is computer based, not internet based. Just call your internet provider and tell them what's wrong.
