SEO: I thought Google looks at Title Tags and uses the Title Tag in the Search Results?

If you go to google.com and type http://www.exposetravel.com
you will note the title is "Company specialises in organising hotel reservations and travel"

This is actually the 1st sentence of the content. The title tag is "Home" so why does it show a different title tag?

Doesn't Google pull the title tag from the <title> tag?

It only shows you the intelligence of the Google algorithm.

Their goal is to provide more information to their users, and having "Home" in the title tag is definitely NOT helpful and not saying anything to the Google users as to what to expect from the site.

Instead of using simply the title tag, Google sometimes grab a line from the content (as in this instance), or sometimes grab the title and snippet from the Open Directory (DMOZ) if the site has an entry (not necessarily this site).

Even for the description metatag which typically is used as the snippet in the Google search engine results, if the keyword being searched for is not in the description, Google skips the description tag and pulls out a line from within the content where the keyword appears.

Google looks at the entire content, not just the tags. So you can't say that just because this is in the tags that Google will automatically use that. It can ignore the metatags if they don't have the keywords being searched, as shown in this case.

They are using the description tag which reads:

Company specialises in organising hotel reservations and travel arrangements to Shows and Exhibitions worldwide

They are not listed in Dmoz as the other poster said could be a possible reason.

Google does pull the title from the <title>...</title> tag but the http://www.exposetravel.com title tag is not suitable to be used as the title in Google search result page. Google can easily understand this and uses the title tag only when it has a suitable phrase.

Having "Home" in the title of a website does not make sense. The title should be a 80 characters phrase that explains about the website content and activity. For the http://www.exposetravel.com, I suggest you to have one of the below titles:

<title>UK Expose Travel Management</title>
<title>ExposeTravel.com - UK Expose Travel Management</title>
Change your title tag and you will see that Google will use it after a few (or few) days.
