Please help me out about my friend, does he like me ?

I had this friend for 8 years , let's say his name is John .
Me and John when we were 10 we spent our whole time playing video games on the pc or ps2 . We are slightly special need , but we are not retarded. Our mums are friends , so when we first meet it was because of our mums , so they always arranged for us to meet up. 
 Now we are 16 . I still play video games but I also work had at school and get A's and B's in my GCSE's and go to the gym.  I now love getting out and about biking or walking . I have grown up, I go out by my self, I have a simple job I get paid for, I shave, wash and keep my self gd looking in up todate clothes.

John is 16 but is in the year below me so he has only down 2 GCSE's so far. He didn't work hard for them and got a B and a D. He spends his whole time gaming. He dosnt go out by himself. He said he will not get a GF till he finishes school and dosnt get why guys talk about girls that much. He's still fat , and wears the same type of clothes , ie a dirty t shirt and sweat pants, he sometimes puts his hands down his trousers to scratch himself. He gets easily angry like when he was a kid. He not allowed out of the house by himself, because he spends all his money on junk food and he dosnt know how to cross a road. 

He had and Xbox, so I saved my money up so I could get one and play online with him. He said he would but it's been 2 years and we have only played one together. Then he got minecraft, he should me how gd it was and told me to get it so we could play online together. He never does and he doesn't put any effort into doing it. But he plays with his friends , which I know because he puts up videos on YouTube of it. He dosnt follow me back on twitter or replie to my emails . 

When ever I go around his house , we just play video games that are single player. Which is very boring cos he mostly plays while I watch. 

Do u think he sees me as a friend, what should I do . How can I help him??
