Does the new sims 3 ALWAYS require internet connection?

I have a new mac and i have no internet on it. I want to buy sims on it but all that is there now is the sims that requires internet connection. It need internet to se it up but does it need internet to play it all the time?

You shouldn't. The Sims 3 isn't like SimCity5 which does require an always-on Internet connection. The game will probably try to automatically sign you in whenever you start it up, but, if it can't connect, you should still be able to play.
