Do i need wifi router for making hotspot on pc?

I have a pc with a cable modem and i have windows 7 on my pc. But i also have a android phone but i dont want to get data connection bcoz its charge too much and consume lots more faster so i need to set a wifi hotspot in my pc Should i need to buy a router or just i need only a wireless adapter because i already bought a wifi usb adapter but i dont to buy a router . One of my friends says that u can make hotspot on pc with a wifi adapter so i bought it is it possible or if it is how should i started .

Dear friend.....The first thing you will need to make sure is that you have both an ethernet port and a wifi adapter. What we are going to do is basically take the internet connection you are getting out of the wall from the rj-45 and then instead of take in wifi like usual we will be transmitting it so all of your other devices can have the glory of the internet.
This is very valuable because it avoids the cost of a router and with the right software you can do a lot that cheap routers cant do out of the box.
