It will probably take more than a few days for your improvements to be apparent to search engines.

What do you mean by "a bot"? You mean you put bot instructions ("index, follow") in a meta tag? It's thought that this method is no longer that effective if at all.
For meta tags, did you mainly focused on name="description" and name="keywords" tags?

Are you using heading tags to make a nice outline of your site?:
<h1>main subject of page with keywords, <h2>subtopics, etc.

Another good test to see if your site is friendly to search engines is to look at how much higher or lower to you rank in Google's Accessible Search compared to Google's regular search?:

Have you tried developing the best text (keyword description) for the <title> of the site?

Sign up for Google Sitemaps - http://google.com/webmasters/sitemaps
It is free and you don't have to submit a sitemap if you don't want to - just submit your URL and go through one of the verification processes.
It will tell you when Google last crawled your site, if it has problems seeing pages, which keyword search terms are most popular, etc.

First of all.. depends what you learned and how accurate it is... It takes times for engines to pick up changes. Also if it was that easy and simple.. people wouldn't get paid six figures to do it.
There is more to SEO then you think. You have a lot of studying to do my friend.

New sites targeting high traffic keywords usually don't rank well and go through a holding period, called the Sandbox. It usually takes up to a few months to several months to rank well. You can rank well in MSN in 2-3 months and anywhere from 7-12 months on Google.

Add keyword rich text to your website copy (add a lot of content), title tag, anchor text. This will help your rankings but this is only about 30% of SEO. The other 70% is off-page factors, which primarily consists of a good link building campaign. Have quality and relevant links point to your site from other websites. Make sure the anchor text of these links consist of keywords relevant to the page it's pointing to.

To rank well in Google, you'll need to have a good number of quality and relevant in-bound links, Yahoo, factors in-bound links but not as heavily as Google. You can move dramatically in ranking in Yahoo by adding keyword rich copy. I suggest anywhere from 300 to 500 words per page.

I hope this helps a little. You will definitely want to check out the forums people are suggesting. They're is so much more to learn about SEO and is continuously changing.

GOOD LUCK!

SEO takes a lot of time if you want to be listed in the top of the search engines. Sure, submitting your site gets you listed, but it doens't do you any good if you're on page 354 of 376 results pages. Inbound links will help with certain engines, as will proper use of keywords on your page.

I personally purchased a 3 day course on SEO for my site and have benn able to increase my rankings in just over a month. I wasn't sure about buying it but since the site offered me 3 times my money back if it didn't work I figured it was worth a shot- and trust me - it is! There is a ton of SEO optimization information as well as information on ppc ads - with links for free credits worth more than 5 times the price of the course!

I only paid $24.95 for it and it is the best $24.95 I've spent on any form of advertising for my site - I've listed the page in my sources and encourage you to check it out!
