How can my family get internet for our house?
We live out in the country right in front of a highway in an apartment. We tried getting verizon dsl but they said we weren't on the port yet our upstairs neighbors all have it. We even tried to get it when one of our old neighbors moved out but they still wouldn't hook us up to it. We have been living here for 10 years and we are the only ones in the apartment without internet and we really need it because I want to start online school but can't until we have internet (i am using my phone mobile web to post this)
Hugesnet said they coul give us internet but it is CRAZY expensive and my older sister had it and it was too slow for her to even let her daughter watch netflix.
Back with i was in highschool i ended up getting zeros on several of my projects because we HAD to have internet to do them and the teachers didn't care that I had no internet or a means to get in town to the library.
Is there anything i could do? My dad said something bout sending my congressman a letter but i dont know how that would help.

Do you have cablevision? You can get internet from them too. But that's weird if your neighbors all have it.

Verizon is a lying POS (used to work for them) If your neighbors have DSL, then you should be on the port. Also, they CAN do things like add an access point, but that will cost a bit upfront. Honestly, I would go via the cable company, if possible instead of DSL. Smoother connections, less of a PNA too. DSL alot of times has to have filters installed on all incoming phone lines to prevent cross over noise into the phone, as well as disconnect from net when you get a call. Plus, in extreme cases, winds up needing a split at the NID (thats where they install a secondary line JUST for the DSL) and again, this is pricey! Cable, easy, peasy, they just put in a spliter, add a router/modem, and you're good to go!
