Well if you want the "professional" look you either have to pay up some or learn how to do it yourself. There are free websites, with easy drag n drop style tools, that make it easy and quick to get up and running, but they 100% will NOT offer any sort of E- Commerce (pay pal). So your two options are:

1. Find a cheep website designer who knows how to add shopping carts, etc and just pay for the service.
2. Learn how to program and do it yourself.

Here is a tip: If you are close to a community college/ university that has computer science/ information technology courses with a web site programing side, see if someone will do it for a class project, you may have to pay the school, but at a much reduced rate than a professional web site company, maybe even free. This would give you more control because you will work directly with the students and the instructor.

Get a domain name, and a hosting plan and build your site in WordPress

This site has a free video tutorial course that shows you how.

If you do not want to use wordpress, there are a few easy to use web opage majkers. You may have to google them.

Web page Maker, real easy to use, but kinda out dated. I think it costs 50 bucks. I would get the lower priced Artisteer instead, but Web Page Maker is easier to use.

Artisteer, very popular, fairly easy to use, and also makes wordpress themes also, there are two versions, $50 and $130. Morre features in the second version.

.X-site-pro, has a good rep in general, but it costs $200. I have not used it because the sales page is one of those in your face web marketing pages and it just looks spammy to me and it dos not inspire trust.

Word-press is the quickest way to go online for most people who have never built a website. There are a LOT of add ons for WordPress that can do just about anything you want, from e-commerce to membership sites.

You can use paypal with either kind of site.

We have written a series of articles to help you. Check out http://computergeeks2go.com/101guides/ca...cs-series/

If you are promoting a book, I would highly recommend you avoid the free sites and get a domain name and a paid hosting service. Not only do you avoid long obscure website names, you get the address you want and email at that address. Your brand is stronger and looks way more professional.

If you would like to work with us feel free to check us out and contact us. We will be happy to work with you to make your book a success.

If you want to build one for free, look into this list of sites that allows you to build a free sub-domain: http://cashjournals.com/where-and-how-to...ee-website

If you are looking to buy a domain name and hosting for cheap, I recommend looking into Godaddy or Namecheap for domains and using Hostgator for your webhosting. After which, you can use WordPress for your site template, which is practically free.
