My browser has been locked?
Hi guys, this is NOT a troll...
So I looked up "bestiality" on Google because I didn't know what it was, and I clicked on a video and yeah it was SO disturbing. Then the next thing I know a new tab opens that says my "browser has been locked" and at the top it said FBI and blah blah blah.. I think it was a virus because in order to leave I had to pay money. Is this for real? I'm not in trouble, am I?

Your computer was hijacked by mal-ware. The site you clicked on was a lure. You need something like MalwareBytes to get rid of it.

I used this site before when my browser got hijacked by mal-ware a few years back. It works
if you follow the instructions.

It's called the MoneyPak virus. I hope you didn't pay any money, if you did, you fell for a scam. Contact your credit card or bank in the morning to stop the payment.

Run your virus scan. Then go here http://www.bleepingcomputer.com/virus-re...ransomware and follow the instructions to be sure it's all gone.

............

Don't tell me you paid money *facepalm*

It's a scam. No you're not in trouble. If you keep falling for that kind of stuff though, you could be in some financial trouble before long.

Also, it's not even a good scam. All they do is have a form load, where the exit buttons are pushed off screen, if you just press Tab + Enter it would have closed, or even Ctrl + Alt + Delete and ended the Google Chrome Process or whatever browser you happen to use.

It's not a virus, it's a link redirection as far as I'm aware and No you're computer certainly was not "hijacked", lol.

It's a malware virus called ransomware. It pretends to be an official government agency threatening arrest if you don't pay the "fine", which is a ransom payment to unlock your computer. Use an uninfected computer to look up instructions on how to get rid of that particular one. When you're able to get to your desktop again, install Malwarebytes' Antimalware and also Spybot Search & Destroy and run both to do a full scan. When you're done, update your antivirus software or, if it was already up to date, dump it and get something better.

"Carling" has some very good advice to look into getting a different, Linux-based operating system. Linux is extremely secure and there are virtually no viruses/trojans/etc. out there that can affect it (maybe one or two, I don't know). Also there are hundreds of different varieties to choose from. I use KDE/openSUSE and like it very much. When I have a program that requires Windows to run, I have a virtual machine running windows so the program thinks it's on an actual windows computer, but it's all sitting securely within Linux (and the virtual machines aren't granted internet access, so they can never get infected or reach the internet if they do).
