You might have to upgrade the Yahoo toolbar to the latest version at webpage toolbar.yahoo.com.
Here is how it is supposed to work on the Yahoo toolbar for IE or Firefox.
Right click the button/icon on the Yahoo toolbar, click Remove from my Toolbar.
Another way (IE, Firefox, Google Chrome):
Click the gear icon at the end of the Yahoo toolbar, click Edit Toolbar.
Under My Toolbar Buttons click the grey X in the box. Red Xs will appear under each icon. Click the red X to remove.
