Can you play Farming Simulator 2013 offline with an internet connection?

I bought the software from Walmart and can not seem to get the game to work. Also I am trying though Steam, is that the only way you can play it? I have thought about disabling my internet connection.
if so how?

Yeah, try through steam. You may have gotten bad software from Walmart. Internet connection should not do anything to the game in offline mode.

You have to use the Internet to install Farming Simulator 2013 through Steam which request a key that is located inside of the front cover with the install disk or key you get with a download from the Internet.

Otherwise, if you turn on your computer without the Internet on Steam will request if you would like to play Farming Simulator 2013 offline and you would click yes. I've played farming simulator several times without being on the Internet. But, you won't be able to use the multiplayer feature either.
