If he really doesn't want to be friends, then...?
My ex tells me he doesn't want to be friends anymore (we were really good friends before... but got into a big argument where harsh/mean things we're said...)

So we haven't really talked in almost a month.... I feel like he's still upset
we're not friends on Facebook

but he keeps me in his profile pictures, even though he's deleted some of his other profile pictures that didn't include me (recently)
he also still has a couple pictures of me on his Instagram page, even though he recently deleted other random instagrams not of me (he must have seen the pics of us)

If he really didn't want to be friends with me, then why would he continue to have pictures of the two of us up?

(I know he doesn't have a new girlfriend)

Maybe it was one of those pictures where he looks nice in so he's keeping it and probably will photoshop you off the picture when he has time.

Because he's still hung up on you in a girlfriend sort of way. Exes can never be true "friends" it just doesn't work. Too many residual feelings exist.
When you said you were "good friends" before, he was probably trying but still harbored feelings for you.

i don't recommend that. takes a lot of years and maturity for one to remain friends after dating. and out of respect for your new relationship probably not the best thing to do. but not doubting it can happen.
