Why does turkey care so much about having access to twitter?
i mean i'd personally donate to the american gov and throw a street party if they blocked facebook and twitter or had those sites shut down (theyre horrible). why is turkey freaking out about it?
if they government is violating their rights they should do something about it besides advertising for twitter and making twitter even richer for no good reason. they deserve to have corrupt leaders and have their rights taken away from them if they want do anything besides moan about the fact they dont have access to twitter. they deserve to have corrupt leaders and have their rights taken away from them if they dont want do anything besides moan about the fact they dont have access to twitter. Because you are apparently unaware that the entire Arab spring was started and run by social media. In countries like Turkey, twitter is often the only source of real news they have. It is also a way to communicate with other people without using telephones. Personally, I don't use it, but I understand why they do.

It was corrupt Turkish politicians who were attempting to block twitter, because it was being used to expose their wrongdoing. But that did not work so well because people found a way around it, and attempting to block it just makes them look more guilty.

All social media sites such as Twitter, Facebook etc are to be tampered with in Turkey for the foreseeable future. Most expats and Turkish now switch a VPN on before surfing to stop the heavy censorship that goes on and off constantly. See http://www.netprivacy.me to install and browse uncensored in future.
