SEO differences between Search Engines.?
Hi, just a quick question which i hope someone may be able to answer.

Is there a technical difference in SEO for Google as Opposed to Yahoo / MSN??? Also the descriptions on Yahoo differ from Google, is there a reason for this?

I am position one on Yahoo for bookkeeper surrey but about position 16 on Google. is this down to the number of pages indexed?
Let me rephrase the question...I AM NOT LOOKING FOR ADVISE ON USING A SEO COMPANY!!!

does anyone here understand actual SEO techniques, and can they explain if the is a difference in optimising for different search engines.

My other question was how does Yahoo get the description tag as it is different in content from Google.

If anyone posts links to blogs about earning money i will report them

Every search engine uses a different algorithm to rate sites. I don't know exactly what causes the differences, but I expect it's nothing to do with the number of indexed pages.

There are a variety of places the description shown on the search engine can come from. These include the META tags of the page, as well as parts of the actual page text. In some cases, I would guess the different descriptions might be due to some search engines having old copies of the pages.

It's probably not what you are looking for, but Google AdWords (and similar schemes) allow you to 'buy' keywords to place your site in the 'sponsored links' part of their site. This - or other forms of advertising - is the most reliable method of getting your site noticed, although it does cost money.
