Dedicated inbound and outbound connections?

I was having difficulty choosing the right question to ask, but here's the details:

I decided to start uploading videos to YouTube recently and I noticed that they were taking quite a long time to upload, I use an Ethernet cable which is connected directly to my router, being this I get a solid 33Mbps download speed (which is what my parents pay for) but the upload is very poor (When uploading, I barely get 100Kbps. Cutting a long story short, I had to unplug it temporarily so somebody else could use it and plugged in a TP-LINK 150Mpbs TL-WN721N wireless adapter, which brings me to the part I don't understand and then my question, This adapter gave a horrible download speed (Sub 1Mbps) but the upload was a solid 2.2Mbps and it uploaded my video in no time at all.

Here's the question: Am I able to have them both connected (I know I can connect both) but dedicate the Ethernet for the inbound connections and dedicate the wireless adapter for the outbound connections? And utilize the solid up and download speeds?

Also, I'm an A-Level I.T student, so I should understand anything technical, thanks! (Haven't started my Networking Unit yet )

You cannot use both at the same time as the wired Ethernet adapter will always take precedence over the wireless adapter. Saying that, the speeds will vary for a number of reason; traffic on the line, how your data is being routed, etc. It does not really have anything to do with which adapter you are using as you are not reaching the speed limit. Also, most ISP's have a asymmetric internet service, meaning, as you experienced, the upload and download speed are different.
