Easy SEO software to help me rank better locally In Google?
What I am looking for is very simple and easy use SEO software to improve my local rankings in Google. I operate around the Tamworth area so do not need anything major in terms of SEO. I have tried Web Ceo but do not understand most of what it is talking about.
I have no experience at website programming so the simpler the software the better. My website designer has shown me how to update the site using FTP software but that's about the extent of my knowledge.
Any help please as Adwords is killing me!

Hi Graham
You have actually hit on a very valid point in terms of how much you need to SEO a website for Google. The fact is if you operate within a certain geography you are going to have to use those relevant place names within your SEO.
I have had great success with a very simple to use piece of SEO software made by a company called Report and Submit. The beauty of this little piece of software is that it meant for people like yourself who have a website but don't know what to do about improving it's exposure in Google under relevant search terms that will bring you in some business. I think most SEO people seem to lose sight of the fact that to get local rankings you just need good on page relevance towards the right search phrases that people are typing in at Google.
I will give you example of what I mean type in ' office furniture Nottingham' at Google and right at the top, even in between the map listings, you will find a company called Office Innovations. All I have done to get that site ranked is research the exact search phrases that people are searching with then used Report and Submit's SEO software to create meta tag templates, anchor text links and correct the html errors. Dead simple and all the technical stuff is cut and paste.
Now I know what I am doing and I still use it as you can run ranking reports on all 175 different Google search engines all over the world, which for me is great, and then email them straight to whoever needs to see them.
That's the best software I have used in terms of simplicity, hope that helps.

Basic SEO is pretty simple. After that it gets very difficult. One way to look at it is to look form a visitors point of view (not your own). What would my visitor like to see? We hope that this is how Google is looking at it!
Here's the basics:
Good content is most important - and I don't mean loads of keywords, I mean ux. Write your content FOR your visitors, write something YOU would find interesting and your half way there.

Then validate your code - google w3c validator. VERY important.

Then get your description tags sorted also very important.

Then keep your page load quick - google website optimisation.

Then get on webmaster tools - submit a sitemap and check the HTML suggestions regularly - google will tell you if there's anything it doesn't like.
Do these things and I GUARANTEE you'll see an increase.

It gets harder after this. Page structure - make sure things are in the right order - title, h1, h2, paragraphs. Put your important keywords near the top.

If you've done all this, google wordtracker - find the popular terms and track your positions - if you want to move up, make sure these terms are in your title tags etc.

Even harder - build some links (genuine ones) and use the keywords in the links.

Then keep repeating all these steps whilst adding content regularly.
