What could be so interesting on Facebook that requires your constant attention?

People are getting more stupid.

The guys who invented all of this modern social media and internet didn't have cell phones.

The stuff going on today is barbaric compared to even a few years ago. We are approaching the end.

I moved away from my hometown years ago, and I don't get to go back there often. Plus I have relatives living in various parts of the country. I think Facebook is a convenient way to communicate with them.

Sure, I love it when I have the opportunity to see them in person, but with job responsibilities, etc., those opportunities are rare.

I suppose it has something to do with the convenience of it. With the availability of the technology and the different gadgets that we have, getting in touch with people through these media are simply more practical and economical.

I agree with packerfan. It is a matter of convenience for me. I use it to contact friends or family who live far away- not within my city. It's a great, economical way to stay in touch in various ways- messages, chat, pictures.

I refuse to go on FB as I thought it was for kids and teens. But everyone is on it, checking it 24/7 to see if so and so has an update. Its sad and in my old head I want to see people not learn about their lives via the computer.

My uncle does that - we've had him round for dinner and at the table, during the meal, he was on facebook saying what a great evening he's having. No word of a lie!

I don't use facebook, it just seems like everyone thinks they're a celebrity or something, like everyone has 'fans' and everyone has to do their publicity stunts. But it does mean that when a friend has a party, I'm the last to know because the invites go out via facebook.
