Currently the government is very broke and they're looking for every penny to squeeze out of their civilians. So given your above acknowledgment of committing a felony the NSA will intercept your yahoo account and sell it the FCC. Expect a knock on your door this time tomorrow for a court summons.

Short Ans: No, your not safe if your asking this question
Long Ans: While it is illegal to download copyrighted movies without permission, it is more likely that you will be brought to a civil trial by the copyright owners rather than a criminal one. The owners can file for a large sum of money, for which you or your parent will have to pay if you lose. Although many people do infringe on copyright laws, for companies to track and charge everyone is impractical/inefficient. Instead, they will take random/prominent people and charge them, which will deter future events. This can easily be applied to you. http://www.theguardian.com/technology/20...downloaded Regarding evidence, your download is tracked by your ISP, which can turn evidence over to the intellectual property owners for cases. Best case scenario: you get a warning and end up on a copyright watchlist. In short: earn money (allowance, job, ...) and just buy the movie |
