Having outbound links in your directory will not hurt site rankings and SEO -- IF Google thinks your directory is high quality.
Not so much has having links, but Google seems to dislike directories that lists everything automatically without human review. Google seems to prefer -- meaning give good rankings and traffic -- to directories that are concerned with the quality of their directory and not lists everyone that submits to them In terms of outbound links, Google guidelines recommend keeping links of a page to 100 or less --------------------------------------------------- http://www.google.com/support/webmasters...swer=35769 Keep the links on a given page to a reasonable number (fewer than 100). Instead of just having a bunch of outbound links, try and do some link building to increase your inbound links. A good way make your directory more organized is to sort by category. That way Google will see your directory as a resource rather than a form of link farm.
I suggest using Web CEO to help with your link building and other SEO efforts. There is a free version as well for people who want to just test it out. |

Outbound links wont hurt your ranking but could effect your Page Rank which could fixed by applying a "no follow" on all out bound links.
