remote doesn't connect to the reciever?

My remote works for my tv but it doesn't work for my reciever.
i have the old dish recievers so i dont have system info on my reciever. is there any other way to fix my remote without needing a new one?

Hi Jaci, my name is Kimberly and I form part of the Social Media Department with DISH. It is my pleasure to assist you. If you have our really old receiver model (Legacy receiver) Press Menu on your remote, select option 6 for 'System Setup' then option 1 for 'Installation', and at last option 3 for 'System Info' (all of our receivers have the System Info screen even the older models) Once you are in the system Info screen, address the remote to the receiver.
