I have created a website on weebly, got a domain from heart internet , BUT.....?

The domain is not from weebly, but i have purchased and payed for one else where. when i click publish on my website, it says i have a free website, and i need to upgrade to a starter or pro package? I thought it was free to publish a website as you have to pay to buy a domain name. Also, the prices to upgrade my website are in us dollar, and i need pound sterling, so how do i change it? I am on WEEBLY . THANKS

Again, because a so called "free" host can lose ad revenue when you add a custom domain name, it's pretty common or them to charge an upgrade fee to use your own domain name. Almost all of them are looking to profit from various paid upgrades.

Google properties, at least Blogger.com for sure, don't have any upgrade fees and allow custom domain names (It's a bit more complicated to set one up on blogger) Google makes enough revenue from publishers who choose to participate in their Adwords ad system. A similar blogging host Wordpress.com is another example of a site that charges for the use of a custom domain name.
