Does google have an application that sends and receives free text?

I was just recently introduced to the Google Apps collection and was wondering if there is an application (Like Text'm) that sends and receives free texts, preferably right to the right of the browser-bar where it might notify me of texts and even open up in a small box like some of the Google Apps better quality facebook applications?
