Need help with internet connection?

Hey there,
my good friend owns an APPLE laptop, when she goes to her brother's apartment, for some reason it says the internet connection is there. But it doesn't seem to show on her laptop, nothing works.
She was telling me that when she opens up a browser, it acts as if there is no internet.

Do you guys have an answer?

I was thinking is was the DNS, but i'm not exactly sure. I would be happy if you guys had the same issue, or know how to fix it.

use a registry cleaner

Try resetting the PRAM. On startup, hold down Option+Command+P+R and it will reset the hardware. no data will get lost. does the net have a decent router to distribute the wifi to her laptop? try performing Network Diagnostics, in System Preferences, Network. and it will take you to some steps to set up the net. and it cant be the DNS because she will need internet connection to identify the DNS.
